Cereus Network to Acquire New Poker Site

Poker networks are software platforms that cater to a number of online poker sites. This results in the creation of a combined pool of players from all the poker sites that can play against each other. Typically poker networks start off catering to single online poker rooms and then attract others because of the advantages they offer.

AbsolutePoker.com and UB.com are online poker sites that have a common ownership. Some years ago the Cereus poker network was created to bring them on the same platform and increase the liquidity of the players. Despite the problems that AbsolutePoker.com and UB.com have faced in the past, the Cereus poker network has become one of the largest in the online poker industry.

Late last week unconfirmed reports at online poker forums hinted that the Cereus network would soon be having a new customer, VictoryPoker.com. The Chief Executive Officer of the online poker site, Dan Fleyshman responded to media queries stating that a signed agreement is not yet in place. He added, “I would be excited to join a network that hosts the third largest site in the U.S. and has very few partners to focus on. It would be great for everyone involved.”

Cereus would be the third poker network in thirteen months for VictoryPoker.com. The online poker site was launched on the Everleaf network and then migrated to the Cake Poker Network in August 2010. VictoryPoker.com has been criticized in some circles for frequent poker network hopping, but then one has to consider upward mobility against stability.

VictoryPoker.com is the second online poker site that the Cake Poker network has lost in the last few months. In January 2011 it lost the high profile online poker site DoylesRoom.com to the Yatahay network. DoylesRoom.com is owned by the poker legend Doyle Brunson who is fondly called the Grand Old Man of Poker. Earlier, in December 2010, the Card Room Manager and Tournament Director both had resigned from the network’s flagship online poker site CakePoker.com.

The signing up of VictoryPoker.com is good news for the Cereus poker network, which had lost its brand ambassadors Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke last month.
