PROBLEM: I tried to fund my Neteller account through an electronic transfer. The funds are in my bank, however the transaction did not go through and now Neteller is charging me a $30 NSF fee. What gives?
SOLUTION: Unfortunately, there are many banks that block Neteller transactions and often times you will not know if your bank is one that blocks such transactions until you try to transfer funds for the first time. As a whole, many companies in the financial sector are blocking poker related transactions and you will see this on many credit cards that do not work when used directly at online poker sites. Although Neteller is not a service that is used strictly for online poker, a very significant portion of their business is within the poker industry so many financial institutions will block their transactions.
You can check with your bank to see if they do in fact block Neteller transactions, however most consumers choose to be cautious not to raise any “red flags” on their account and just try to see if it goes through without asking any questions initially.
Neteller has implemented a practice of putting transactions that are denied through a second time under a different ID (other than Neteller). In most instances, the transaction will go through the second time around under the alternate ID, which does not identify them as “Neteller”. The downside is that there is still the $30 fee that Neteller will charge your account for the first denied transaction.
Some Neteller customers have successfully lodged complaints to Neteller Customer Service and have gotten these fees credited. Some say that the determining factor of whether you will be able to get the fees credited is the volume of transactions you do with Neteller and how long you have been a customer. Regardless of the volume of transactions in your account or how long you have been a customer, it is always worth a shot to get that $30 back.
PROBLEM: I requested Neteller to send me a check for the amount of money I have in my account and they declined my request. What do I do now? How do I get my money?
SOLUTION: It is not uncommon for Neteller to enforce policies in their user agreement that require you to utilize the funds that are in your account with a merchant as opposed to withdrawing the funds as real cash. This is especially the case if the funds were received through a transfer from another Neteller member. The first thing that you should do is call Neteller to find out why they declined your request to make sure that it is not due to additional identification that they require before processing your request. If they do in fact respond back saying you must use the funds with a merchant, the best thing to do is evaluate the withdrawal policies with all the various gaming sites that accept Neteller.
Most poker sites that accept Neteller will only allow you to withdraw your finds through the same method that you deposited them, however some sites may give you an option on how to withdraw your funds, especially if you have utilized various methods to deposit funds into your poker account. You may have to transfer the funds in from Neteller, and then also transfer funds in through another method or two (one being a method that you would like to receive all your funds back in). You also may have to actually play some of the funds that you transfer in, or in some instances, you may have to wait a period of time before requesting a withdrawal, however understand that this is a challenge that many online poker players face.
Another strategy to getting Neteller to approve your withdrawal, especially if the reason that you are unable to withdraw your funds is the appearance of where the funds came from (ie. a transfer from another member), is to transfer your funds back and forth in increments to various sites for several weeks and then request another transfer when the source of the funds is technically from a poker site. You may have to experiment a little to figure out the exact formula for getting your cash out, and it may take a little time, but be patient. That is all part of the challenge of online gaming!
PROBLEM: I tried to transfer money from the poker site account where I play to my Neteller account, and my transfer was denied. Why?
SOLUTIONS: Many poker websites deny transfers to Neteller accounts for a variety of basic reasons. The most common reason you may experience trouble in transferring funds from your favorite Web site back to Neteller is if you have not fulfilled the gaming requirements of the Web site. Double check what their gaming policies are, or call Customer Service of the site you are playing at to see what you need to do to withdraw your funds. Most likely, you have a little more play that you must complete before being eligible for a withdrawal.
Another common reason sites deny Neteller withdrawals is if you have written a check recently to a poker site online that has not yet cleared. Even if the exact funds you are trying to transfer did not come from that check, you may have to wait for the check to clear before transferring the funds as many sites will put a hold on funds equal to the amount of the check as assurance of funds clearing. Also, make sure that you have made a deposit to that site using Neteller. Many sites will not allow a Neteller withdrawal unless you have at some point used Neteller to make a deposit as well.
Lastly, transactions that are more than a nominal amount may require written documentation of your request and in some instances larger withdrawals are not even possible for some merchants to do via Neteller so they opt to mail a check directly. Every Neteller poker site is different so it is good to familiarize yourself with the policies of the site you are playing at so that there are no surprises that will greet you when you are ready to cash out.
