The leading online poker site PokerStars.com holds an annual tournament series Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). The events will be held in May this year, but the satellite tournaments have been running since March. PokerStars.com has set aside $45 million to be paid out as guaranteed prize pools for the SCOOP events.
Many online poker sites hold mega events, but PokerStars.com walks that extra mile for its players. Each tournament in SCOOP has a low, medium and high buy-in level, which makes it an event that everyone can participate in. The most popular poker land tournament, World Series of Poker, offers gold bracelets to its winners. SCOOP is not to be left behind. PokerStars.com offers the winners of SCOOP a swank Movado watch (see picture) designating them as a SCOOP champion. And the watch is given to winners of the low, medium and high buy-in events.
SCOOP 2011 will kick off at the PokerStars.com online poker site on May 8 with a No Limit Hold’em six-max tournament. In all 38 events have been scheduled and because each event has three buy-in levels SCOOP will offer 114 events. The low buy-ins range from $5.50 to $270 and the high buy-ins range from $530 to $25,500. The highest buy-ins are for the No Limit Hold’em Heads Up Match Play. The largest prize pool is, however, for the No Limit Hold’em Main Event, which is the last event starting on May 22. The prize pool for the high buy-in is $5 million.
The online poker site PokerStars.com has also announced a SCOOP Leader Board promotion. The player who is placed first on the leader board will receive the Player of the Series trophy, a seat at the main event of the 2011 World Championship of Online Poker, a prize package to the 2012 PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure, a spot at the Grand Final of the European Poker Tour and a special edition PokerStars.com chip set. There are attractive prizes for the runners up as well.
The satellites to SCOOP are running round the clock at PokerStars.com. Some of these have a buy-in as low as $0.25, which is virtually free. The detailed schedules of the satellites and the SCOOP events have been posted on the online poker web site.
